Dakota has won me over once again with Nina's story in Accidentally Dead.
Nina Blackman is starting her first day at her new job as a dental hygenist, when one of her patients gets loopy and bites her. She doesn't think anything of it until she wakes up later with fangs. She knows she must be a vampire. If one of her closest friends can be a werewolf then vampires are not out of the realm of possiblity. She calls in her two closest friends, Marty the werewolf and Wanda the human to help her sort this mess out. There's no way she's staying a vampire, she was just fine with her very human existence.
Between the three of them they track down Gregori Statleon, the too-hot-for-his-own-good vampire who accidentally turned Nina. He's apologetic, but insists that what's done is done and he'll help her in any way he can. Nina's convinced he's lying an refuses to be drawn to him. Too bad her efforts don't seem to be working. The more she tries to push him away, the more he keeps coming back for more. She'd never admit it out loud, but she kinda likes having a guy around that she can't scare away. Maybe, just maybe he's someone who could stick around for the long haul, and eternity is one long haul.
Dakota's books are always full of humor and wit. I absolutely love the banter between Nina and the other characters. She's never without a quick comeback. At the same time you do get to see her vulnerable side and you really care about her and everyone else. Greg is one hottie of a vampire, and you have to wonder why Nina fights her attraction for as long as she does. These two were absolutely made for each other. Dakota is an author you just have to check out. Be sure to read Marty's story in The Accidental Werewolf and be on the lookout for Wanda's coming soon, The Accidental Human. These books are great for fans of Michele Bardsley or Maryjanice Davidson. Buy From Amazon
