One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost Reviewed By Amberkatze

Cat Crawfield is half-vampire and is also a Special Agent working for the government. She works hard tracking down rogue undead but there is one undead she still secretly longs to see. Bones is her sexy and dangerous ex and he taught her well. However she left him behind and now four years later it looks like Cat will need him more than ever.

Someone is trying to kill Cat and Bones can help her. He is back and all of her emotions flare up like never before. She needs to team up with Bones to get the job done but will her human team understand? She tries to keep things professional but it doesn't take long for Cat to give in to the desire inside of her.

This is the second 'Night Huntress' book and it is definitely different to the first book 'Halfway to the Grave'. In the first book Cat was just beginning to realise what she was and what she was capable of. In this book 4 years have passed and she knows what she has and isn't afraid to use it. She is stronger, harder and wiser. She is a force to be reckoned with.

When you start this book it is fair to say any reader of this genre will be addicted straight away. With a great head strong main female character and a delicious male lead this author has made a great team and the steamy scenes in this one would get a any pulse racing, even the undead.

The addition of some new characters as well as some smaller characters from the first book gives a great cast of players in this paranormal world. The storyline flows nicely and you never really know what is going to happen until it does. There is also humour and wit in this with the whole team giving as good as they get.

Worth the wait! Released at the end of April it took me a month to get a copy and I read it in one night. I only wish I had got a copy sooner. When is the next one out? Because I need to start looking for a way to get it as soon as possible. This is a not to missed series!

One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost Reviewed By PopinFresh

Halfway to the Grave ended with Cat taking a job with the government and leaving Bones, her hot vampire boyfriend. In One Foot in the Grave, four years have passed and Cat is a kick ass agent, killing vampires and looking good doing it.

Cat loves her job, but there is one thing missing in her life. Bones. She believes she left him in order to protect him, but it still hurts that he isn’t there with her. It’s been four years though and a girl does get lonely, so Cat hook up with a human, but it doesn’t last too long, especially when Bones comes back into the picture.

Cat will have to deal with an ex-boyfriend, a jealous friend, a crazy mother, and a vampire who wants her dead. Life is never easy for Cat, and in One Foot in the Grave it isn’t any different.

I picked up this book with high hopes. I liked Halfway to the Grave, which is why I’m so disappointed that I didn’t like this one as much. I think my main problem was that it’s been four years and Cat’s life is a lot different now. She’s gone from someone who didn’t have many friends, to someone who has people she considers to be her brothers.

While I was happy that Cat found people she could trust and love, I was annoyed, because I felt no connection to her new found brothers. Juan didn’t really do much and the main purpose for Tate was to hate Bones and pine away for Cat. I was hoping that as the novel progressed that I would understand how close they are to one another, but I never did. There was a scene near the ending of the novel that was meant to be heart-warming and such, but I felt nothing because I don’t know anything about her teammates. Hopefully, in the next book her team will be developed more.

I also wish that Cat would have more girlfriends, or at least have females in the novel that aren't crazy. Other than Cat, the only non-crazy female is Denise, but she's human and isn't after Bones. The rest of the girls, if they even look at Bones in a romantic way Cat wants to stake them, regardless, if they are human or not. I'd love for Cat to have a vampire friend who is a girl and kick ass also.

Cat does meet her father in the novel, which was pretty cool. He’s an ass, surprise surprise, and his meeting with Cat was a little lacklustre. Despite the sad meeting, after meeting him I’m hoping in the next book that he'll reunite with Justina, Cat's mother, and they could possibly become super evil baddies. Justina is stupid and crazy, but each time she starts talking about vampires and how they are demons, I can't help but feel that she secretly loves them and wants to be one. Perhaps that's the real reason she doesn't truly love Cat, not because her father is a vampire, but because she wants to be just like her.

The book overall was okay. I still love Bones and the universe Jeaniene Frost created. Cat is a strong character, but this novel didn’t really thrill me like Halfway to the Grave did. I’ll still probably read the next book in the series, At Grave's End, just to see if my little dream of Justina and Cat's father really does happen. That would be sweet.
