 Paige Sorenson is a beautiful young widow in need of a handwriting expert. Claudia Rose, a forensic handwriting expert, has been highly recommended. Claudia interviews the young widow and finds that Paige’s husband, Torg Sorensen, executed a will after he had suffered a stroke. The will left Torg’s entire estate to Paige as well as the Sorenson Academy, a school for girls.
Claudia soon finds that the Sorenson case will be an interesting one. Bert Falkenberg is Paige’s assistant but he appears to more resemble a man who works outside than an assistant in a girl’s school. Annabelle, the troubled student, is the daughter of Valerie Vale, an actress that was killed in a car wreck. Annabelle was also in the car but survived. Annabelle’s father is Dominic Giordano, head of Sunmark Studios. Dominic is not close to his daughter and has no patience with her problems. Cruz Montenegro is an instructor at the school and Annabelle is fascinated with Cruz and it seems Paige is as well.
Soon Claudia is drawn deeper into the problems of Paige and Annabelle than she had ever intended. In spite of warnings from Joel Jovanic, her police officer lover, Claudia has become attached to Annabelle. When murder enters the story and Annabelle is in danger, Claudia does everything she can to get to the bottom of the mystery and help Annabelle.
Sheila Lowe’s book Poison Pen introduced the reader to the world of forensic handwriting and what handwriting can reveal. Written In Blood is a great mystery and a good lesson in handwriting analysis.

HappyRuby is a combination of the names of two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels that I owned - Happy Talk and Karri's Ruby, both deceased now but I do have a dog and cat. I live in the Midwest so enjoy a change of seasons. I am an office manager for two plants that process pet food ingredients. I worked a number of years as an office manager for a law office. I only work part-time now which gives me more time to read. My daughter lives in W. VA and is a huge fan of mystery - the darker the better. My other daughter is into reading romance and my granddaughter loves fantasy. I very much enjoy reading mystery, hard-boiled or cozy. |
