| I was excited to read this book, but I was very disappointed. While the many studies that Gladwell brings up are themselves fascinating, the glue that should hold them together--his theory--is extremely thin. Leaps of logic are tagged with words like "obviously", which only highlights how flimsy the arguments are. By the end of the book, having endured a very liberal application of the words "Tipping Point" to just about everything out there, I am hard pressed to say just what a Tipping Point is. I am especially displeased by the flimsiness of the argument given the seductiveness of its possible interpretations in sensitive areas. Read it for the reporting of the studies by other people, but remain vigilant of conclusions drawn on faulty logic. Review By charliebrown314 |
